This week

This week we mainly studyied tetonic plates and how the planet evolved over billions of years. The reason why we have a core full of magma was because a world like mars crashed into the Earth and mixed the land ind inner fratures together. Plates came together gorming mountains, or volcanos. As the volcanos erupted new land developed. We learned about the 3 different types of bounderies, Divergent, Convergent, and Transform Bounderies. Divergent bounderies is when plates move apart, Convergent ones are when the plates push together, this causes mountains and higher elevations/land to form, lastly their are Transform Bounderies this is when plates scrape past eachother

This picture is showing all the bounderies
These are the earths major plates

This week we stared to look at gelogical phenomineons. We discovered that once in New Jersey two plates spepperated and now it is a valley. We have discovered the different types of rocks. Metomorphic, Ignious, and lastly Sedmemntary. Ignious is formed from lova/magma that has been cooled and hardens, Sedementary forms sedement mud or clay that has been pressed together by pressure Metomorphic is formed by rock that undergoes through both pressure and heat. We also did a test about if citric acid made a difference in erosion compared to water. We emidiatly saw acid bubbling in the container and the chalk got smaller sat to the water the only real difference was the color. That was my week.

This week we learned about maps and contour lines indexes and more. We put to gether a map of new jersey and we saw that we saw that their was a valley or something inbetween mountains. We think this accures by earthquakes and that the plates shifted and thats why this valley is running throught NJ

Maps

This week in science we looked at a map of conneticut. IT was important because it showed us what contour lines are for and what they mean. It was very important because when your planing a hike you can see the elevations and see if your going to be going up or downhill

Sweet

This is sweet making this up dudes. Looking at google earth in class has been cool. Does anyone else think this is cool... Do I get the extra credit now (hahaha)? I enjoy Mr.Finely's cool smart board and touching it.
